As the weather turns colder, it’s time to bring a cosy feeling into our homes with essential neutral shades.

Neutral tones are the perfect match for autumn, bringing a fresh airiness whilst offering heat and comfort. Our favourite neutral colours include warm white, classic cream, taupe and mushroom, which work beautifully alongside a terracotta palette, as well as shades of teal, peach and misty tones. These neutrals are a truly versatile choice!

Our favourite warm neutrals have a grey, cream or white base with a yellowy undertone. Rather than the cool and often stark look of bone, flint or sea foam, warm neutrals bring a reassuring comfort and cosiness.

While cold colours calm and relax us, warm tones have a stimulating effect. This means warm neutral pigments are perfect for areas of the home where you want to feel energised and positive. Light yet temperate, simple but still engaging, these warm essential neutrals are easy and complementary tones that work wonders in a range of interior design styles.

How to style essential neutral tones

Neutrals are a reliable choice for a timeless home that will continue to look stylish as seasons change, tastes transition and trends come and go. No matter your interior tastes, whether traditional, modern, industrial or shabby chic, neutral colours are an essential.

A warm neutral base will offer a great starting point for personalising your space, layering well with other colours, patterns and textures. The unobtrusive nature of neutrals makes them highly versatile and workable, allowing interest to be brought through in the form of texture and pattern. As well as the brighter colour combinations we previously mentioned, neutrals also team well together; tonal combinations of complementary neutrals will bring depth and interest in a sophisticated and understated way.

For smaller rooms, neutrals will open things up and create a feeling of space. Remember to choose a lighter shade for ceilings to create an even more ‘open’ feeling. For bigger areas, remember there are plenty of possibilities in terms of indoor plants, soft furnishings and statement lighting, which will add more interest and colour to a plain backdrop.

We’ve pulled together a selection of our favourite warm neutral items – the essential collection for dressing your windows this autumn. Click the images to shop direct our visit our main site.
