The first Saturday of April is National Handmade Day, a time where we celebrate creative craftspeople and the amazing things they make for us to enjoy. From artists to potters, sculptors to cushion makers, today respects them all. In this blog, we’ll be showcasing our commitment to quality and ensuring our handmade products give our lovely customers the quality curtains, blinds and home accessories they deserve.

Handmade in the UK

For almost ten years, Blinds Direct has been designing and carefully handcrafting premium quality home furnishings including chic curtains, luxurious blinds or comfy cushions. From our 130,000 sq ft state-of-the-art factory nestled in the heart of Yorkshire, we’re proud to serve over 15,000 customers per month – with many of their purchases being made fully by hand – using a combination of modern technologies and time-tested techniques.

More reasons to choose Blinds Direct

Ethically sourced materials

The materials we use are high quality and ethically sourced. The wood used to make our wooden blinds and shutters, for example, is sourced purely from responsibly managed forests, and we have a dynamic selection of materials available made using recycled materials.

Made to measure to your exact specifications

At Blinds Direct, our teams carefully craft each order to the exact specifications our customer’s require ensuring the perfect finish. Measuring you window’s is an easy task and to help you provide accurate information, we’ve developed our handy measuring guides.

Five year guarantee

Our craftspeople are so talented and committed to quality that we’re confident in offering all our customers an extended 5 year guarantee, which beats the majority of our competitors.

Our handmade products

Our premium quality products are made either fully – or at least partly – by hand. For each order, one of our dedicated and skilled team members uses their talent and experience to ensure the product meets the highest standards. Our ranges of handmade products include:

  • Curtains – This range features a broad choice of colours, patterns and textures, so you can select the ideal style for your space.
  • Roman blinds – These blinds are the ideal solution for almost any window in your home, providing a compact alternative to curtains while remaining stylish and cosy.
  • CushionsWith a wide choice of prints, sizes and piping available, your cushion will be handcrafted to your specifications.
  • Lamp shadesOffering the perfect flourish of style to a space, handmade lamp shades can also be upgraded with a chic metallic inner!

Furthermore, while not handmade in their entirety, talented human hands are used at multiple stages of the manufacturing process to craft our ranges of Day & Night blinds, pleated blinds, panel blinds and Illusion blinds. Each slat of our wooden blinds and aluminium blind is cut one-by-one using a hand operated saw before being assembled manually.

Our commitment to quality and preserving the skills needed to make beautiful home furnishings is at the core of our business. To all our dedicated staff, and other handcrafters around the country, we salute you. To learn more about Blinds Direct, you can find more information on our about us page.
