Welcome to Blinds Direct’s first ever Kids’ Design Challenge!
This year we’re inviting children aged 5-10 to get really creative, and make something they and their friends would love to have in their homes!
Following our popular BD Design Challenge for university level students, this competition invites the nation’s children to draw a fun and funky monster. It can have as many eyes, arms or teeth as your child would like - just make sure it’s colourful and full of character!
There is an exciting prize up for grabs, read on to learn more!
The
Challenge
For a long time, children have been fascinated with monsters. From trolls to dragons, little ones often think about what’s hiding in the wardrobe or under the bed. As a result, we think it’s time to make some modern monsters for the 21st century, and help bring to life those characters lurking in your child’s imagination!
Help stretch your child’s creativity to the limit by helping them create the most fun monster they can imagine. Whether it’s round or long, friendly or fearsome, we can’t wait to see the designs!
Whether your child’s monster is a flying terror or a misunderstood mammoth, the challenge’s judges will look for creativity, imagination and individuality rolled into one amazing design. The winning entry will then be featured on an exciting range of products on the Blinds Direct website introducing this latest marvellous monster to the world.

Your Monster
What will the monster look like? Will it have feathers or scales, pointy teeth and a long tail, or will it be cheerful, squeaky and have lots of colourful eyes?
Does your little one enjoy imagining fantasy worlds full of mysterious castles, huge mountains and magical creatures? If so, this competition is for them! While some monsters can be rather terrifying, our competition is designed to let children create a fun and exciting monster full of character.
Encourage your child to use plenty of colour and detail to create their monster, and attach a letter telling us all about it. Where does it come from? What does it do? What / who does it eat? We can’t wait to hear all about them!

To enter the competition, all you need to do is provide us with a picture of the monster, a brief explanation as to who it is, alongside the name of the entrant and contact details for a parent or guardian.

We are offering one lucky winner the opportunity to have their design printed and made available for purchase on the Blinds Direct website. The design will be created as:

Each product listing will also feature the description of the monster as provided by the entrant.
Moreover, the winning designer will be presented with a £100 voucher for Hamleys - the greatest toy shop in the world!
The top three entrants will receive a lamp shade and cushion created from their very own design, made here - by hand - at Blinds Direct.

The Winner
We have an experienced panel of judges drafted from Blinds Direct’s talented design team. The judges are ready to use their extensive experience and knowledge to pick a winner from the expected menagerie of monsters!
All submissions will be judged fairly and ethically around two factors:

- Original Concept - We want to see the unique style & creativity through the design of the monster!
- Considered Market - While we want to see the most imaginary monsters you can create, remember we want to see something which customers may ultimately like to buy, perhaps for their own child! Therefore, keep your monster on the fun side of things.
