March is easily one of the best months of the year. It’s the month when we finally shake off winter and embrace spring, this year it also includes the Easter break which is a lovely treat! Moreover, March is a month where we prep our homes for the nicer seasons with spring cleaning and design refreshes. In the past four weeks we’ve spotted some beautiful images on Instagram where talented customers have used our products to curate amazing spaces – these are three of our favourites!

Our favourite social posts from March

Throughout March, we’ve been extremely impressed with the creativity and talent of so many customers. Something that has stood out to us this month has been the dramatic and sublime use of Roman blinds in some exquisitely stylish homes. From living spaces to even bathrooms, these images will provide you with some valuable inspiration!

Carnival of colour

Homes should always reflect our own unique style and this marvellous living room by @elliegooder is a perfect example of how an eclectic approach to home styling can achieve sublime results.

This dynamic room uses tones of green to create a soothing foundation from which a vibrant array of tones, shapes and textures has been added. Starting with the pale blue green walls, the rich dark green sofa and assorted plants, it’s easy to see how well different shades of green work together to manifest something that’s interesting yet calming.

From here, Ellie has introduced complementing and contrasting colours in equal measure. By adding a cosy orange blanket to the sofa alongside several pink, and multicoloured striped cushions, she has been able to add pops of interest throughout the space improving the feeling of depth and comfort.

To finalise the space, variegated pictures and artworks are hung from the wall, a unique lampshade suspended from the ceiling and a patterned Roman blind and curtain finish the window’s beautifully.

Arts and crafts

Our second post comes from @scouts_edwardianhouse_. This idyllic children’s room is fresh, cosy and beautifully decorated to help their little one relax after a long day playing.

The colour palette focuses around warming neutral colours with shape and form used to create points of interest. For example, the shaped light fitting, striped walls and stool legs help to maintain the calming nature of the room without it feeling bland or boring. Pops of blue uses in the basket, picture frame and radiator also help to enrich the space!

Speaking of blue, we particularly love the pale blue border added to the Roman blind covering the window. At Blinds Direct, we make all our Roman blinds by hand but there’s nothing to stop you from adding your own personal twist to it.

Here, @scouts_edwardianhouse_ has added a delightful blue “ric rac” trim to the blind to add a little more dynamism and colour to their blind. Moreover, since the blind has been handmade here in the UK they’ll be able to enjoy it for many years to come.

Bathroom beauty

Last but certainly not least is this interesting image from @1930sarang. @1930sarang is an amazing Instagram account which follows the transformation of a 1930s house into a chic, sophisticated home.

This image showcases the warming wall colours contrasting with the dark panelling with a peak of an elegant Roman blind in the window. While the soft pink used on the walls adds warmth and charm to the space, the gold and glass accents add a luxurious finish. Overall, this bathroom has a beautiful balance of contemporary and classical chic.

The leafy patterned Roman blind helps to unify the room’s aesthetic charm, adding colours that are distinct but harmonious.

While offering only a snapshot of such a lovely room, one of the great elements of this photograph is how it showcases the transition from living room to bathroom. Too often we think of rooms as completely separate projects but by seeing the cool grey of the living room in the same shot as the warm walls of the bathroom, the overall style of the house is showcased beautifully.
