December is here, Christmas is just around the corner and festive cheer is starting to fill the air. As a pre-Christmas treat, we’re not bringing you one colour of the month, but three! Like the wise men in the nativity story, we’ll be bringing you three gifts in the form of style inspiration and oddly enough, none of them are gold! These are our three colours of the month for December.

December’s colours of the month

This year, we’ve explored some truly lovely colours, from brown and gold to berry red and mustard. To round out the year, we’re going to look at three lovely colours which have captured our imaginations this year. So pop on some Christmas tunes, pour yourself a nice warm drink and enjoy our three colours of the month for December.

Pristine pinks

In interior design, incorporating subtle pinks in a strategic will transform a space. When done well, these pinks will add a touch of elegance and warmth without overwhelming the overall aesthetic. Subtle pinks, such as blush or dusty rose, possess a timeless quality that effortlessly complements various styles and colour palettes. These gentle hues can evoke a sense of tranquillity and sophistication which is perfect for winter. One effective approach is to introduce subtle pink accents through accessories like cushions, lamp shades, artwork, or soft furnishings. You can also find an array of patterned blinds featuring pink as a supporting colour. This restrained use of colour creates visual interest without dominating the entire room. Additionally, pairing subtle pinks with neutral tones like whites, greys, or soft beiges can amplify their impact, creating a delicate and harmonious atmosphere.

Furthermore, subtle pinks can be employed to enhance specific design elements within a space. Consider incorporating blush tones into furnishings like soft Roman blinds, curtains or ottomans to introduce a focal point. This strategy not only adds a delicate finish, but also creates balance within the room. Additionally, using subtle pinks with natural materials, such as woods or greenery, can bring a sense of organic harmony to the overall design. The key lies in maintaining a delicate balance and avoiding excessive use of pink.

Delightful damsons

Damson shades, with their rich and deep purplish-red tones, will add a touch of sophistication and warmth to your home interior design. These luxurious hues, reminiscent of ripe plums, bring a sense of opulence to any space. When carefully incorporated, damson shades can create a cosy and inviting atmosphere, particularly well-suited for living rooms and bedrooms where you can use it in curtains, lamp shadesand roller blinds to great effect. Another approach is to use damson as an accent colour through elements like cushions, bedding and throws. This allows the colour to stand out without dominating the entire room, providing a tasteful and visually pleasing contrast to neutral backgrounds.

To enhance the impact of damson shades in interior design, consider pairing them with complementary colours like muted greens or deep blues. This creates a harmonious colour palette that evokes a sense of sophistication and balance. Damson can also be integrated into decor pieces such as vases, artwork, or statement furniture, offering an elegant and timeless aesthetic. Whether used sparingly as an accent or more generously as a focal point, damson shades bring a sense of richness and depth that elevates the overall design of a space, making it both stylish and inviting.

Wonderful winter greens

Winter greens bring a refreshing and invigorating touch to interior design, infusing spaces with a sense of vitality during the colder months. Deep, rich shades of evergreen, pine, and emerald can be strategically incorporated into home decor to evoke a cosy and sophisticated atmosphere. So too can lighter tones of olive and eucalyptus. One effective way to introduce winter greens is through textiles, such as plush green throws, cushions, or area rugs. These elements not only add warmth but also create a visual connection with the natural beauty of winter landscapes. Layering winter greens with neutral tones like whites, greys, or creams allows the colour to stand out without overwhelming the space, achieving a harmonious and elegant balance.

In addition to textiles, incorporating winter greens into decor elements like wreaths, garlands, and potted plants can bring a touch of nature indoors. Evergreen wreaths with subtle accents like pinecones or berries can be hung on doors or walls, creating a festive and inviting atmosphere. Similarly, strategically placing potted plants with green foliage throughout the home adds a sense of life and vibrancy. This infusion of winter greens not only connects the interior with the season’s outdoor aesthetics but also contributes to a visually pleasing and comforting ambiance that resonates throughout the home during the colder months.
