Do you spring out of bed with the sunrise or hit your stride long after dark? Our 2025 Sleep Survey of 2,000 UK adults revealed some fascinating insights into how our sleep patterns shape daily life – and even how we design our homes.

Understanding whether you’re an Early Bird or a Night Owl doesn’t just help you plan your day – it can also influence the perfect window treatments for your bedroom. After all, the right blinds can make or break a good night’s sleep.

Not sure which you are? Take our quiz now!

What Our Sleep Survey Revealed

60% of Brits identify as Early Birds, while 40% are Night Owls.

Early risers often report better physical and mental health – 42% say their routine benefits their wellbeing.

Nearly a quarter of Night Owls wish they were Early Birds, highlighting the trend toward morning productivity.

Sleep mismatches are common – 31% of couples say their schedules don’t align, and 20% of women say their partner disrupts their sleep every night.

And when it comes to improving sleep?

  • Blocking out natural light ranked as the second most popular tip (45%), right after keeping the room cool (49%).
  • Other strategies included reducing noise (44%) and maintaining a consistent bedtime (39%).

All of which proves one thing: your bedroom environment matters – and that’s where the right blinds come in.

If You’re a Night Owl

Night Owls often enjoy late-night creativity or social time, but that can lead to problems when morning light pours in too soon.

Our tips for Night Owls:

✔ Opt for Day & Night blinds or Double Roller Blinds for complete flexibility – filter light in the evening, block it out in the morning.
✔ Consider electric blinds for easy control without leaving your bed.
✔ Pair blinds with thermal lined curtains to keep the room cosy during late nights and cooler when you sleep in.

If You’re an Early Bird

Early Birds love starting the day bright and early, but lighter evenings – especially in summer – can make winding down for an early night tricky.

Our tips for Early Birds:
✔ Choose blackout blinds or blackout lined curtains to block out evening sunlight and create the perfect sleep environment.
✔ Go for light, fresh tones like whites, creams, or pastels to keep your room feeling calm and bright for those early mornings.
✔ Layer blinds with curtains for a soft, luxurious finish while boosting insulation and light control.

What If You’re a Light Sleeper – or Live with Someone on a Different Schedule?

Our survey found that 31% of couples have mismatched sleep routines, and nearly one in five women admit to arguing about it. The solution? Smart design choices.

✔ Install Perfect Fit® blinds, which clip neatly to uPVC windows – ideal for light control without drilling.
✔ Layer blackout blinds with curtains for the ultimate sleep sanctuary.
✔ Try smart home integrations like electric blinds and timers for effortless control.

Recommended Products for Couples & Light Sleepers

  • Perfect Fit® Blinds Sleek, drill-free, and great for bedrooms and bifold doors.
  • Blackout Roman Blinds → Stylish and effective for shared spaces.
  • Smart Electric Blinds For ultimate convenience and peace of mind.

Regional Trends: Who’s Waking Early & Who’s Staying Up Late?

Our survey uncovered some fascinating UK stats:

  • Top Early Bird Cities: Edinburgh (74%), Belfast (74%), Bristol (71%)
  • Top Night Owl Cities: Norwich (51%), Southampton (48%), Sheffield (46%)
