Over the past few decades, the role social media has played in our lives has continued to grow and grow. As we invest more trust into Instagram, Facebook, X, and others, communities increasingly share tips and advice on an array of topics, including interior design. As you may have seen, each month we take a look at some of the beautiful images we’ve been tagged in on Instagram but today, we’re doing something a little different but very special. We’ll be hearing from some extremely stylish influencers who have kindly given their time to provide you with advice. Get cosy, forget about the weather and enjoy our top tips from social media influencers.

Our panel of influencers

Before getting into it, let’s first showcase our panel, in no particular order!

  • First is The Indigo Casa, a wonderful Instagram account which  showcases the beauty of careful colour selection while mixing classical and contemporary styles. It’s an account filled with stylish inspiration and sage advice!
  • Secondly, lifeateightysix, an account brimming with sophisticated interior design inspiration. This gorgeous home makes excellent use of pale colours with pops of richer tones like oranges and greens. It’s super chic.
  • Last, but certainly not least, we have Lifeatcapri. This unique home is brimming with colour and pattern that’s carefully curated into one of the most dynamic yet homely accounts on Instagram. For lovers of personality and expression in interior design, this is for you!

With that said, let’s see how our panel answered a series of questions that you can learn from for your home decor projects!

How can readers quickly and effectively refresh their living spaces without a complete overhaul?

The Indigo CasaThe first most impactful change I would say is paint. Playing around with colours and creating almost wallpaper-like designs is a pretty big change in any room. Next would be dressing my windows. In many of my interior projects I find a new set of curtains/Blinds/Shutters can really elevate and bring warmth to a room.

Can you share your secrets for finding that perfect palette that sets the mood for a room?

Lifeateightysix – I find choosing colours (especially paint) one of the hardest tasks. It takes me the most amount of time to deliberate and decide. My number one tip is to start with a colour you truly love!! Our red kitchen cabinets are an example of this, and then everything else after this choice became easy. My favourite colour combos are bold statements, they may look scary at first but they always turn out fabulous.

Individualised details frequently give character to a room. How do you find balance between incorporating cherished items and redesigning with a fresh perspective?

The Indigo CasaI do not follow trends as such. I always invest in items and pieces that are timeless and that I will cherish for a long time to come. There are so many fabulous interior designers, one which I always refer to in my styling is Abigail Ahern, an interior genius. She also has a couple of interior and garden books that have lots of styling tips and tricks.

Life at CapriNothing makes a house homely more than Incorporating personal cherished items into a space. A homemade piece of decor, a painting from a friend, a piece found in an antique shop, or your grandma’s favourite vase, cherished pieces bring a sense of personal history, and personalised charm into a room, they put your stamp on your home and create a sense of identity. Mixing these items with a newly designed space can seem challenging, but these items are the ones that we feel bring a room together. Place an older piece next to newer items, or create a gallery wall with a mix of old, modern and personal pictures to create an interesting yet up to date space.

Where can you find affordable yet chic furnishings and decor for styling our homes when on a budget?

LifeateightysixWe love finding hidden gems on Facebook marketplace or in charity shops. You can then even try some DIY to give them a new lease of life. We’ve upcycled many pieces of furniture or created something from scratch. It can often be a fraction of the price and the end result is so satisfying.

Do you have favourite resources for staying up to date with the latest interior trends?

Life at CapriWe use Instagram for home inspiration. In terms of trends, we choose not to follow them, and instead select more timeless pieces, or items that we simply love. Although we do have some trendy items and designs in our home, we chose these because we loved them, not because of the trend side. Specifically selecting pieces that we will still love and use when the trend dies out.

Please share your top tip for revamping a space

The Indigo Casa – Adding your own personality is key. This can be done through colours, fabrics, styling pieces, furniture anything really.

Life at Capri – The finishing touches are important. Painting a room a great colour can reinvent a space, but the real transformation is from the details. Fill the space with items you love and that mean something to you. Texture is important and soft furnishings really make a space feel warm and inviting.

Lifeateightysix – Have fun! I’ve never regretted a bold decision but frequently regret my more cautious choices

Wow, what amazing and valuable insights! Our sincerest thanks to our panel for taking the time to share such excellent advice. Which points have stood out most to you and which have you excited for your own home decor projects? Be sure to let us know via our social media platforms.
