Blinds Direct – Proud To Support Local Causes
On 7th of July 2018, Blinds Direct took to the water to raise money for Kirkwood Hospice and Martin Crane Children’s Hospice.
Our brave Blinds Direct Paddlers teamed up to compete against local businesses on the lake at Pugney’s country park. The event, run by Huddersfield and Wakefield Chantry Rotary clubs, was being held for the tenth year and with this being our first time competing, we knew it was going to be a challenge.
In a close-run series of races we worked as a team, paddled our hardest and quickly learned how to row a dragon boat (it was our first time after all). But ultimately, we just missed out on progressing to the final races.
With a barbecue at the ready and a TV to keep up to date on the England world cup quarter final game (another event we knew we just couldn’t miss), the Blinds Direct tent kept up a joyous feeling throughout the day. Despite not winning the dragon boat competition, we kept in high-spirits and raised our goal total for the hospices we were supporting.
It was a day of glorious sun, fun, and fundraising in which we were proud to take part. Now we’ll get practicing our paddling for next year.
We at Blinds Direct are proud to be a Yorkshire business and we’re proud to support our community. We’re committed to providing the entire country with window furnishings that have been crafted right here in the heart of the UK.
