We all know of the beauty of monochrome interior design, but few are as aware that this trend is more flexible than they may expect. We recently explored how monochrome spaces are fantastic for new born babies but what can monochrome interiors do for adults, specifically luxury monochrome? For lovers of luxury, this blog is going to be one for you!

Monochrome reimagined

In many instances, monochrome spaces will have somewhat of a minimalist edge to them. The rooms will often feature slim profile furniture, and minimal accessorising but you can turn this trend on its head to enjoy luxury monochrome in effortless style. Luxury monochrome tends to include larger profile sofas, block colours and chunky tables and cabinets. By playing with scale this way, you can add a lux effect to your monochrome space, wherever it may be in the home.

The best buys for luxury monochrome

Few home furnishings are as luxurious as curtains. Full bodied, quality, made to measure curtains in either black, white (or a combination of the two) are the ideal starting point for a luxury monochrome decor.

Black and white curtains can feature classic chess board check patterns, but for a luxury monochrome space, look at patterns that are a bit different. For instance, the interesting right angles found in the Symmetry Monochrome Curtain, or the Sonova Studio Ink Splash Monochrome Curtain – a design that’s unique to Blinds Direct. By finding something that goes against the grain, and adds a point of interest to a room’s style, you can curate a truly luxurious finish.

Curtains aren’t the only window furnishing for a luxury monochrome home. You can consider a chic black, or white panel blind. Other options include roller blinds, vertical blinds, and even wooden Venetian blinds. That said, you can feel free to mix and match window furnishings in an extremely luxurious fashion.

Layer up your windows

Layering window furnishings, particularly in bedrooms and living rooms, with recess fit blinds and curtains is an excellent way to enjoy monochrome design.

Take for instance, black curtains suspended from a beautiful glossy black curtain pole and combine them with a chic white Roman blind fitted within the recess. This layered effect will definitely contribute to the overall luxurious finish of the room.

This layered approach will also help you to introduce patterns. By having a more exotic patterned blind in the recess and a plain curtain, you can showcase the pattern when you want, and then cover it up with the curtain if you want to dial it down a little. If however you’d prefer a patterned curtain, look for a smaller pattern – especially if you’re going heavy on the monochrome.

A modern take on monochrome

Finally, you can consider a slightly modern take on luxury monochrome. By substituting the traditional duo of black and white with more modern alternatives, you can make your monochrome space different and even more luxurious.

The first option is to slightly tweak the tone of the colours. For example, substitute black with dark greys for a touch of Scandi chic in the mix. One of the best dark grey shades is anthracite which you can learn more about in our Top Tips For Using Anthracite Colour In Interior Design blog. Similarly, you can substitute white with shades of off white, light cream or different neutrals for a warmer effect.

That said, there is nothing stopping you from pivoting even further by replacing black with either a dark blue, deep bottle green, or a rich chocolate brown. By thinking a little out of the box, you can make small style tweaks that capture the feeling of luxury monochrome perfectly!

Luxury monochrome is a great trend and is at the cutting edge of fashionable interior design. To find the perfect addition to your monochrome home, explore the website and enjoy style and quality in equal measure! How will you add a luxury monochrome finish to your home?
