So here it is, not merry Christmas (yet) but Lockdown 2.0, and for many, life will be stranger than our first stint indoors. A chief contributor to this increasing change is the decreasing temperature which will keep us inside for even longer. Here’s how you can fight off the frost and enjoy your home even more this winter.

The next normal

During the spring, many of us spent much more time at home than maybe ever before. As the temperature got better, however, we’d walk, exercise and relax outside. This time, with the cold and dark coming quick, we’ll not just be working and relaxing from home, we’ll probably be exercising there too.

Thinking of installing a cross trainer or attending some online yoga classes? You won’t just have to worry about people seeing any private work correspondence on your PC, you’ll need privacy to hide your puffing and panting from any nosey neighbours you may have.

PS, you might not know this but our range of Touched By Design SunVue roller blinds have a sprinkle of magic added when made. They let you look out at the world but stop the world from looking in, giving you the privacy you need without blocking the short sunny spells this winter. You can browse them here.

Whatever you plan to do at home this winter, now is the time to take a leaf from the Nordic school of home design and start to nest. It’s time to make your home as comfortable and enjoyable an environment as possible, making it somewhere to be peaceful and private while winter makes everything outside that little more dreary.

Let’s face it, we’re all going to be spending more time at home, let’s make them as nice as we can!

Spruce up your windows

With longer nights, colder temperatures and more domestic activities you may want keeping private, our windows are going to spend longer closed than usual – but that’s ok!

The way we dress our windows can be quick and affordable, making any space feel warmer, welcoming and homely. Whether you want a statement colour or pattern, a particular texture or finish, there are thousands of options to consider from versatile roller blinds to beautiful curtains and everything in between.

And yes, shops may be closed for the foreseeable future but British manufacturing – such as the facility that makes all our products here in Yorkshire – will stay open and with just a few clicks of a button you can order your dream item online.

why curtains with thermal lining are important

Myths about made to measure

While in the world of clothing a made to measure item will be significantly more expensive than an off-the-shelf piece, the same is not necessarily true about window furnishings. In fact, it’s quite the opposite.

For example, at Blinds Direct, all our great value, luxurious roller blinds are handmade here in the UK, to your exact requirements, for less than you may pay on the high street. In some instances, you could pay up to 70% less for a higher quality product!

In short, you can upgrade your product while downgrading the price.

Waiting times and measuring

Furthermore, you won’t have to necessarily wait a long time to receive your dream blind. With many of our products you can expect them to leave the factory within 2-3 working days with our Fast Track Delivery service.

Lastly, don’t worry about measuring for your blinds, it’s far easier than you might think, and we have some great guides to help you if you get stuck.
